Research Project Proposal approved from HEFA

May 6, 2024

One research project proposal was approved under the CSR initiative for faculty from Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA)

Project Name: Development of innovative surface treatment and graphene-based nanocoating/film strategies for the preservation of tangible cultural heritage in India

PI: Dr. Shailesh Kundalwal

Attempts to preserve and protect Indian cultural heritage sites is nascent stage at national level. Some of the crucial areas of maintenance and preservation of sites such as (i) surface cleaning and treatment of objects of art and antiquity, (ii) demonstration of the use of Laser Cleaning Technology for the objects under consideration, and (iii) preparation of strong, opaque, eco-friendly, lightweight, chemically and thermally stable coating for murals, paintings, artifacts, statues, sculptures etc. require the intensively carried out innovative research strategies. Nanocoating are eco-friendly, lightweight, chemically and thermally stable, economic, and scalable alternative. Apart from technical and scientific objectives, we also plan to contribute towards imparting a sense of social responsibility for preserving cultural heritage sites via skill development and awareness training programs to the people.
